About OACD’s approach to 1-2-1 coaching
OACD’s director Jayne Simmons has had a long-standing interest in mental health wellbeing. Over 20 years ago interest in complementary therapy led Jayne to change careers and undertake training in Stress management.
A diploma in Stress Management and certificates cognitive behavioural training was the route undertaken, along with a counselling skills training course.
Initial courses were delivering evening classes in local colleges. Life has a way of changing in unexpected ways and a move to Aberdeen 20 years ago resulted in Jayne returning to a more corporate role.
Over the years Jayne has been actively involved in designing, developing and delivering a range of training interventions and coaching to support individuals in the area of stress reduction and developing resilience.
During her career, Jayne has been made redundant 5 times and each time she has looked to see what can be gained from the experience and continue to develop and grow herself and support others to do so.
As coaching has developed and professionalised, Jayne undertook a post-graduate diploma in coaching at Aberdeen University. Jayne is an active member of the local Association of Coaches Branch in Aberdeen. She has been a full member of the International Association of Stress Management for over 20 years.
Jayne uses a very solutions-focused approach to coaching encouraging the coachee to set their own goals for their own future growth and development. But it is about listening to the coachee and looking to see what works best for them in achieving their goals
Coaching can be face to face (Aberdeen area) or online.
One to One coaching primarily concentrating on achieving personal effectiveness in the workplace

I am an active mentor on the AXIS mentoring scheme, working with people looking to develop their careers in the oil & gas industry
